Software Engineer, Boomi Developer — Allianz Technology
My first architecture role was pure plumbing: connecting SAP SuccessFactors to SAP HCM and payroll providers (ADP, Ultipro) for global subsidiaries on Dell Boomi. The real lesson wasn't the connector work — it was learning that point-to-point integrations feel fast until the fifth system joins, and every change after that becomes a coordination problem. I started designing with X.509 mutual auth and consistent data mapping from day one, even when a shortcut would've shipped faster.
Governing at scale
Consultant, Boomi & Apigee Lead — Deloitte USI
At Deloitte I led integration architecture for global clients across healthcare and finance — the stakes and the blast radius both went up. I moved from ad hoc connections to a deliberate hub-and-spoke pattern: Boomi for transformation, Apigee for governance, event-driven pub/sub instead of synchronous point-to-point. The trade-off I kept making was consistency over speed — OAuth2/JWT and dead-letter queues on every integration, even when a client wanted the quick version, because the quick version is the one that pages someone at 2am.
Teaching the system to reason
Systems Engineer, Apigee API Developer — AutoZone
Now I'm modernizing the API platform itself (Layer7 → Apigee X) while layering AI on top of the governed foundation I spent six years building — not instead of it. Every agent I've shipped follows the same rule: LLMs handle understanding and narration, deterministic code handles execution, data never round-trips through a model it doesn't have to. That's the throughline from 2017 to now — the tools changed, the discipline didn't.
